Ahhhh...New York (Part II)

Theatre Review: Avenue Q and The Boy From Oz

Then was the pen-ultimate - Avenue Q. Can I say how fabulous this show was. I mean, I already knew I would like it and I knew the words to half the songs (hey...I'm a theatre geek who bought the CD). Anyway, the show was hilarious and fun and catchy, etc. Well deserved Tony for Best Musical of 2004. And John Tartaglia - WOW! These guys are the hardest working actors (and puppeteers) on Broadway! Go see it - I highly recommend it.

Anyway, tomorrow is lunch at Wichcraft, The Boy From Oz for a matinee (wahoo Hugh) and dinner at Bolo (gotta love Bobby Flay). Oh yeah, and did I mention I'm seeing Garden State again tomorrow???? Insert shameless plug here:

Over and out, kids.

Ahhhh...New York (Part I)

Restaurant Review: Peanut Butter and Company and Cafeteria

The sights...the sounds...the pissed off cabbies :)

So today was a blast - lunch at my favorite whole-in-the-wall, Peanut Butter and Company. I had the Elvis with bacon onwhite bread and smooth peanut butter (yes they ask) and washed it down with a REAL vanilla Coke. Yummmm.

Afterwards, we walked up 5th Ave and I bought a new purse and a new wallet from Fossil, and some kick ass sandals from Nine West. We walked over to where FAO Schwartz used to be and will be again and then cut over to W 58th to walk back to our hotel, The Hudson is very odd, and quite fabulous - I highly recommend it!

The was dinner at Cafeteria - some of the best Mac N Cheese I have had along with an amazing steak. We had a couple of odd New York girls sitting at the next table who seemed to be bored with life and they had the kitchey waitress with the cool earrings while we had a hot, but in no way straight waiter. Towards the end of the meal, our waiters switched (how odd) and we ended up with the kitchey waitress. Now this seemed bizarre, but we benefitted from it. The girls next to us wanted the chocolate cake that came with cocnut ice cream with a different kind of ice cream...simple enough request, but the waiter said no they don't do substitutions; I missed his reason. The kitchey waitress came up and we ordered the same thing (no coconut ice cream please) and she said sure, would you like vanila instead??? Ummm yes please as coconut can kill me. We left Sarah a big tip :)

TGIT!

Whew - Thursday is finally here...

So I am headed to NYC tonight and am counting the hours until my 9pm flight.  I am currently working (very hard as you can tell) and am SO looking forward to leaving.

Part of my excitement of going to NYC is to see my sweet Katie Sue. She is my best friend from Junior High and High School and she is an excellent actress. I should know, I was Widder Douglas to her Aunt Polly in the 7th grade!

Anywho, I'm just killing time until 5pm when I can head home and throw some things from my dryer into my suitcase and then head to the airport.

Have I mentioned Garden State in this post yet? No? OK?

Seeing Garden State on Saturday - Zach Braff here I come!

Is it Thursday yet??

Okay, so I'm impatient. Here I am sitting at work (taking a breather after eating a bit of lunch) and am day-dreaming about NYC.

"Why?" do you ask?

Because I'm going to NYC on Thursday night (late night) after a long day of work. I'm going to drool over Hugh Jackman in Oz and laugh my ass off and sing along with Avenue Q, eat some awesome food, go to cool museums and see Garden State again! So I ask again...Is it Thursday yet??? Plus, I really want to go see Much Ado About Nothing in the park - but apparently you have to go stand in line really early to get tickets, but I am dying to see it.

It's going to be a lot of fun, but is hard knowing I have to work for a couple more days first - blech...

Thunder...Lightning...this Georgia weather is frightening...

So twice in 2 days the great heavens have opened and rained upon this little Hamlet called Atlanta with the firey passion I would expect of Mother Nature if you hurled on her best pair of Manolo Blahniks.

Anyway, it's coming down pretty hard again tonight and it makes me want to crawl into bed and sleep for days - nothing more soothing than sleeping during a huge thunderstorm.

I'm not looking forward to the next 4 days - I'm heading to NYC for a nice long weekend, but first I have to work (and cram 5 days of work into 4). I love work actually, I think I am one of the crazy few, but as much as I enjoy shortened work weeks, then seem much harder actually.

I know...It Sucks to Be Me! :)

Later!

How's that one go??

Movie Review: The Clearing and Before Sunset and The Bourne Supremacy

So I just have to say it - what a great run of non-predictable endings of movies recently.  Today I saw The Clearing (wahoo, Bob Redford, even if he is looking a bit haggared) and Before Sunset (sequal to 1994's Before Sunrise).  Both movies did not end up where I thought they would - hooray for Fox Searchlight and Castlerock. Between The Clearing and Garden State (yes I am a member of F.O.G.S.), Fox Searchlight is giving Miramax a true run for it's money...it's about time.

Also, I saw The Bourne Supremacy on Thursday at an EarthLink employee screening (long story). Anyway, can I say how refreshing it is when the sequal is better than the first movie. And there was a fight scene that just blew me away...the moves - WOW!

Not much more except to say...go see Garden State starting 7/28 (8/6 for those of you not in LA or NYC).  Personally, I will be in NYC watching it this Friday - wahoo!

Large's Ark

Movie Review: Garden State

I just have to say how awesome this movie is - I have gone so far as to post a quote on my website, post comments on the IMDB and convince my friend who has a radio show to interview Zach Braff about it.

David Letterman is having him on next week, so are Regis and Kelly, The Today Show, Charlie Rose and Carson Daly.  My TiVo is ready to go.

Anyone who enjoys movies MUST see this flick as soon as possible (it opens wide on 8/6 and NY and LA on 7/28).

Zach is amazing in all 3 roles (Writer, Director and Actor).  SO impressed am I - who knew?  I mean, Scrubs IS the best show on TV, but he doesn't write or direct that.

GO SEE THIS MOVIE!

Happy weekend!
